The right colours can make all the difference!

Jonathan Yap's favourite colour is yellow and designer Cherie Goh of Interior Expressions Pte Ltd heeded his instructions closely. The first thing you'd notice is the predominantly bright yellow theme, accented by a random scattering of blue and pale yellow tiles on the floor. These three colours were specially selected and arranged in this way to give the bathroom a cheery feel, said Cherie.

Marvel next at the unique mirror and the matching Corian solid surface vanity top (yellow, of course!) that goes well with the bubbly theme of the bathroom. Looking closely, you'll find several sets of exclusive three-dimensional tiles in the midst of the white ceramic tiles on the wall. While a bit on the higher end, price-wise, these tiles do a great job in bringing vitality to what would otherwise be an ordinary bathroom wall.

Despite a lack of space on the vanity top, Cherie has brilliantly constructed a false wall to create a niche for shelving. The same goes for the shower cubicle, where mosaic-tiled concrete slabs have been attached to one of the corners for putting toiletries.

Jonathan's mother, Jenny, prefers a clean, sophisticated yet comfortable look. As she travels overseas frequently on business trips, she prefers a fuss-free bathroom.

I need a bathroom that's easy to maintain, yet luxurious like that of a five-star hotel. A Jacuzzi is a must.

To accommodate the Jacuzzi, Cherie had the bathroom extended by pushing back one of the walls. Working with the minimal space available, the step for the Jacuzzi was built at an angle. Being a platform, it can be used for placing bathroom ornaments or scented candles, to make that relaxing bath all the more soothing. For flooring, non-slip ceramic tiles were chosen for their safety and easy maintenance. Jenny has chosen the right colours to give the bathroom a very pleasant and comfortable feel.

It's no wonder Jonathan pops over to his mother's apartment for the occasional Jacuzzi treat!
